Tom’s Football Dream

By 6A Chong Tsz Ching, Annette

Three months ago, on a sunny day, Tom and his father went to China Football Field. They watched a football match. Tom cheered loudly because the players played very well. Tom said to Dad, ‘Dad, I want o join the football team! I want to be a football player when I grow up.’

The next day, Tom went to the football pitch to find the football team leader. But they were in the middle of a training so Tom said to the football team leader, ‘Sorry to interrupt you but yesterday’s match was amazing. It inspired me to be a football player.’ Can I join your football team?’ he added. The football team leader replied, ‘Of course! Welcome, Tom!’

A few days later, at football practice, Tom fell down and twisted his ankle. His teammate saw it and asked, ‘Are you okay?’ ‘It’s serious. How about I take you to the sickroom?’ he added.

However, Tom didn’t give up. He set up his own timetable. He practices football every day and does other exercise every day too. Now Tom is the best player in the team.

Tom’s Football Dream

Last year, on a cloudy day, Tom and his dad went to Fanling Football Pitch. They watched a football match. Tom was excited because the football players were so cool. Tom said, ‘Dad, I want to be a football player when I grow up.’ Dad asked, ‘Why?’ Tom replied, ‘Because playing football is so amazing.’ Dad said, ‘This is a great job.’

The next Sunday, Tom went to the football pitch again because he wanted to join the football team. He had the most wonderful dream. He wanted to be a footballer. Tom asked the captain, ‘Can I join the football team?’ The captain said, ‘Of course! Welcome, Tom!’ Tom went to the football training every day.

One day, at the football training, Tom tripped and twisted his ankle. Tom shouted, ‘Ah! I got hurt!’ Tom’s captain took him to the sickroom.

In the end, Tom recovered. Tom said, ‘I am well today.’ He laughed.

Tom’s Football Dream

Last Saturday morning, on a sunny day, Tom and his dad went to Happy Football Field in Sha Tau Kok. They watched a football match. Tom was happy because his favourite football players played really well. Tom said to his dad, ‘I want to be a footballer when I grow up.’ ‘OK, this job is so cool!’ smiled Dad.

The next day, Tom went to the football pitch at school because he wanted to join the school football team. He saw a boy who wore a cap. His name was Jamie. He was the captain of the football team. Jamie told Tom, ‘To be a footballer, you need to do more practice!’

Later that afternoon, Tom went to the football pitch again and saw Jamie. After Jamie taught Tom some football skills, Tom began to play football. Suddenly, Tom twisted his ankle and cried. When Jamie saw Tom fall, Jamie helped him up. ‘Thank you!’ smiled Tom.

In the end, Jamie didn’t give up playing football, because he knew that constant practice would bring him success.

Be Good at School

By 5A Ho Shu Kiu, Sofia

Last year, Kenny and some of his classmates were naughty during recess. Some good students tried to stop them and gave them some suggestions.

First, Kenny and some of his classmates were very noisy. They talked to one another loudly and rudely. Jack reminded them, ‘Friends shouldn’t talk to one another rudely.’ Jack continued, ‘Also friends should talk to one another softly.’

Second, Bruce, Charlie and Andrew were very rude. They fought with one another. Candy said, ‘Friends shouldn’t fight with one another.’ Candy continued, ‘Friends should get on with one another.’

Third, Annette and Jane were very disrespectful to each other. They complained to each other. Suki said to them, ‘Friends shouldn’t be mean to each other.’ Suki continued, ‘Also friends should be nice to one another.’

At the end, Kenny and his classmates thought what Jack, Candy and Suki said. They thought they were reasonable so they all stopped arguing with one another and said sorry to one another, ‘It is my fault, sorry. Can you forgive me?’ They all felt delighted and played together at all the recess.

Last year, Kenny and some of his classmates were naughty during recess. Some good students tried to give Kenny and some other naughty students some advice.

First, Kenny and some of his classmates were very noisy. They talked very loudly and impolitely to one another. Jack said to them, ‘You shouldn’t talk rudely and impolitely to one another. You should talk politely to one another.’

Second, Bruce’s classmates were cruel. They fought and hurt him. Candy said to them, ‘You shouldn’t fight with one another. You should get on with one another.’

Third, Annette and Jane were very mean. They blamed each other. Suki said to them, ‘You shouldn’t be mean to each other.’ Suki continued, ‘You should be nice to each other.’

At the end Kenny and his classmates were very bad to one another. They said ‘I will tell my mum.’ After a while Kenny and some of his bad classmates were very worried, so they said sorry to one another.

Writing a Journal Entry about a Time Machine Mission to Old Hong Kong

4A Law Chun Him, Teddy

Mission: Were there any playgrounds in 1980?

Today I used my time machine to travel back to 1980. When I got there, I saw a big playground. There were a lot of children. They were playing hide-and-seek, tag and rock-paper-scissors.

Then I saw an old man called Jeffy. I asked him about the past. He said nobody used calculator at school. Everybody used paper to do sums by themselves. I was surprised to hear about these because I didn’t know about things in the past before.

It was very interesting to go to the past and I can learn about some special things. I enjoyed this mission. I hope I can learn more about the old Hong Kong.

Mission: Were there any computers in the classrooms 100 years ago?

Today the time machine took me to an old school in 1921. I was surprised because the schools were old and shabby.

I went to a school in Fanling. It was old. I went into a classroom. There weren’t any projectors or computers. It was very dirty and small. Nobody had a school bag.

I felt we are lucky because we have good learning environment. I don’t like the schools in the past because they were old and shabby.

My name is Sasa. I am nine years old. My birthday is on 23rd May. I live in Fanling. I am tall and thin. I have short hair.

I love watching TV in my spare time. I like watching both documentaries and travel programmes. I think they are informative. I don’t like watching pop music shows or sports programmes because they are boring.

I like indoor activities but I don’t like music. I read books every day. I like playing the guitar too. I usually go cycling on Saturdays. I like playing board games with my Mum on Sundays.
